Halloween 4th grade in l’Arrabassada

Hello families!

As you know, last month Lockhart Academy celebrated Halloween in l’Arrabassada.

The 4th graders did an experiment that nowadays has become very popular: SLIME! They did two different slimes, one orange and another one green in order to create Halloween characters: a pumpkin and a Frankenstein.

The ingredients you need to do slime are:

  • White glue
  • Contact lens solution
  • Baking soda
  • Colorant (orange and green)
  • Spoon
  • Bowl
  • Glass or small recipient per student
  • Black marker pen to decorate the glass/recipient

Here you have the video with the steps they followed to create it. We encourage you to try it and have a good time with your family or friends!

THE CITY

Hello families!

During the month of November, after celebrating Halloween, the 4th graders worked on a new topic and new vocabulary that they can use everyday: THE CITY!

They talked about their cities, about their favourite places and buildings and how often they visit them. They also did different activities to learn how to ask for directions and how to read maps.

And… at the end of the lesson they created their own city! They built different buildings such as houses, a supermarket, a park, a cinema, a school, a police station, a hospital, a sports centre, a big stadium… In short, a city that had all the amenities to live there.

Here you have some pictures of their amazing city:

Bye bye families, see you soon!

Families at L’Agulla

They enjoyed the story very much. They asked me for telling the story again and again every day and, at the end, they knew the dialogue perfectly. So, we decided to make a storytelling. Every one had to learn a part of the story and had to read it to the camera. I think they did […]

Jobs (Part 1)

We didn’t have enough time to finish all the story, sorry for that!, but I think that in this video you can have an idea about how they have been working during the whole school year.

Day & night

They were very imaginative! They could see planes, dinosaurs, dolphins… After this story, I told them Night Monkey, Day Monkey by Julia Donaldson. Here I attach you a video about it.

Jobs (Part 2)

I must say that they created the stories and all the dialogues. They have been working very hard and, which is more important, in English! They have improved a lot during this term.

From head to toe!

Hello, families!! As I told you in the last blog post, this term we have been talking about the body parts. We started before Easter singing the famous song Head, shoulders, knees and toes by Super Simple Songs. Then, when they came back from their holidays, I told them a funny story: From head to toe by […]

THE WEATHER: 5th and 6th grade in l’Arrabassada

Hello families!

As you know, during the month of March, the biggest ones in l’Arrabassada have been working on an important topic for our planet: weather and recycling. To end the unit we did some activities that we want to share with you.

  • SLOGANS: They created colourful advertisements to promote the recycling in our school.

  • WEATHER PREDICTIONS: They had fun recording the weather predictions that some cities will have for the following days. Here you have the videos of the future presenters in l’Arrabassada, don’t forget their names!

We hope you like it as much as we enjoyed doing it.

See you soon,

Teachers Gemma and Melanie.
