La Vitxeta – 4th, 5th and 6th graders: January-February project

From mid-January till mid-February, the students from 4th, 5th, and 6th grades studied the theme HomeThey had lessons related to rooms, furniture and accessories, and different locations and positions. During the last two sessions, they worked on their projects. They collaborated in small groups to create a room, which they had to fill in with different furniture and accessories. Then, they described their rooms and presented them. Each group had different rooms which were later joined into a house.

Students really enjoyed the project because they could combine both creativity and English to produce a unique piece of art. We are very proud of their results!

Keep coming back to check more news!

La Vitxeta – 4th and 5th graders: Two weeks overview.

During the past two weeks, the main topic of the lessons was Animals. So, the students from 4th and 5th grades have been learning names of various animals, their body parts, different coverings, and living environments. The last lesson was dedicated to the project which included all the elements that they had learned in the previous lessons. The students had to imagine that they were zoologists who had discovered new animals. Every student had to create an animal, and then write a short description including the animal’s name, its appearance, habitat, and nourishment. After that, they had to present their animals to the classmates.

Xmas projects

Hello there!

They really put a lot of effort into their Xmas projects this year as they had to write and narrate their own Xmas story.  In order to do so, they had two options: to choose the pictures or to draw them themselves.

They all turned out great and they had fun in the process.

Tuesday/Thursday 1st and 2nd graders – La Vitxeta

Hello, hello, hello!

The Tuesday/Thursday first and second graders of La Vitxeta were so excited about the coming holiday that not only sang the Christmas song Oh Christmas Tree but also had the chance to dance.

We devoted the last few weeks of the term to Christmas activities that involved Christmas vocabulary. Through songs, games and crafts they got a great grasp of the most important traits of the Christmas celebration in English. Also, they welcomed a distinguished guest: The Elf on the Shelf, the main character of an American Christmas book that tells the story of an elf that visits kids before Christmas to then go back to the North Pole and tell Santa who is being naughty and who is being nice.

The activity they enjoyed the most was the creation of their own bauble. They love crafts and by doing this one they could decorate and even write a Christmas message on it that will be part of their own Christmas tree during these days.

We hope this post finds you happy, healthy, and enjoying a cozy holiday season!

Pre-primary students – La Vitxeta

Christmas time also arrived in La Vitxeta! To celebrate it, the pre-primary students worked on some projects that involve the use of Christmas vocabulary.

First of all, they listened to the story of The Gingerbread Man, a fairy tale about a gingerbread man escaping from several pursuers to finally be caught by a daring fox. They also had some time to design their own gingerbread man.

Next, they watched the popular Christmas cartoon Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. As they really enjoyed that activity and got really caught by the Rudolph’s catchy song, we moved next to create a proper costume to perform the song later. That involved a craft time where they made their own reindeer’s antlers up, plus a face-painting activity to get their nose as red as Rudolph’s.

We hope this post finds you happy, healthy, and enjoying a cozy holiday season!
