Places in the City: promoting communication

Last Thursday we had a very special class with our adult B2 students in Lockhart Academy. After a couple of sessions talking about directions and places in the city, we went on to create our own model of the city (run the mouse over the picture to see a short caption or click on them if you want to see them bigger):

As you can see in the pictures, we used typical classroom objects: pencils, pencil sharpeners, rubbers, plastic containers… All these became part of the model of a part of Tarragona!

After the students created the model of the city, they joined in (even) smaller groups and prepared a short movie to record in the tiny city:

Girls writing their script

Boys writing their script

Once both groups had prepared their scripts they performed the story. If you want to see the whole process, please see this 5 minute video and enjoy!

Thanks a lot to Agustí, Duina, Gemma, Mont and Raül. Without your implication, participation and good sense of humor, this activity would have been impossible!

Activity inspired by Grammar: Around Town in One Stop English.
