Hi, there!

I’m Monica, one of the new English teachers of the Academy.  I’m teaching 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade in Escola la Vitxeta (Reus).

I love dancing, going to the cinema, knowing other cultures and, of course, being a teacher. I like teaching children  very much and also learning with them. This is my first time as an English teacher in an Academy and I hope children will have fun and learn a lot.

My first month in La Vitxeta has been very funny. At first, I was a bit scared like always that someone starts in a new job, but now, I’m very comfortable with the school, my mates and with all the students.

I have two groups between 5 and 8 years old. I’m very proud of them, because when we started the classes some weeks ago, they couldn’t follow the class very well -take into account that the whole class is only in English!-, but now, I can see how they have learnt, because they usually speak in English between them in the class, not only to me!

They have listened to some tales, like Let’s go to the zoo!, The mixed-up chameleon and their favourite: The Gruffalo. I’m sure that more than one of you have heard your children singing: “He has terrible tusks, and terrible claws and terrible teeth in his terrible jaws. It’s the Gruffalo, Gruffalo, Gruffalo… It’s the Gruffalo!”. They enjoyed the story a lot and they always want to sing the song in class.

Some of you have seen our pets. We have one for each group, and the best student can carry it home every day until the next day. It’s a present for their good attitude. The pets are a bear (Mr. Bean) for the first group and a duck (Mr Quak-Quak) for the second. They decided their names and they are very motivated with them.

So, I hope all children and their parents learn some English and have a lot of fun!

See you soon.
